2009-10 LPS Teachers
of the Year

Congratulations to the following 2009-10 LPS Teachers of the Year! Thank you for your support of students, parents, colleagues and the LPS district.

Susan Bliss -- Hayes Elementary School

Livonia Public Schools Board of Education Resolution:

Whereas, The trustees of the Livonia Board of Education are desirous of recognizing and promoting excellence in education in this school district; and

Whereas, Susan Bliss, fourth grade teacher at Hayes Elementary School, has distinguished herself by being named Livonia's Elementary Teacher of the Year for 2009-2010 by a district-wide committee composed of teachers, parents, and administrators; and

Whereas, In achieving that recognition it is clearly evident by all accounts that she is an exceptional educator, going far beyond the expected range of her duties to meet the needs of students, colleagues, parents and others; and

Whereas, In addition, Susan serves as her building's co-chair of the NCA School Improvement Team and Literacy Leader, and is an active member of the Michigan Reading Association. She has also been a member of the District Literacy committee, and has been a Language Arts core curriculum representative. Susan has contributed to several textbook selection committees, and served as an LEA representative; and

Whereas, Susan has also been honored by several students in the Who's Who of American Teachers. She has also conducted after-school book clubs for colleagues, planned reading-writing workshops, and has assisted in community-building classrooms,

Now, therefore, be it resolved, That the trustees of the Livonia Board of Education do hereby commend and congratulate Susan Bliss for being named Livonia's Elementary Teacher of the Year for 2009-2010 and for all the hours of unswerving dedication and loyal service she has rendered to the Livonia Public Schools School District, her students, and the greater community.

Amy Rozman -- Stevenson High School

Livonia Public Schools Board of Education Resolution:

Whereas, The trustees of the Livonia Board of Education are desirous of recognizing and promoting excellence in education in this school district; and

Whereas, Amy Rozman, Radio and Television teacher at Stevenson High School, has distinguished herself by being named Livonia's Secondary Teacher of the Year for 2009-2010 by a district-wide committee composed of teachers, parents, and administrators; and

Whereas, In achieving that recognition it is clearly evident by all accounts that she is an exceptional educator, going far beyond the expected range of her duties to meet the needs of students, colleagues, parents and others; and

Whereas, In addition, Amy has served as her building's Communications committee co-chair and Professional Development chair. She also has created the Stevenson video yearbook and the Advanced TV curriculum, along with leading the implementation of the Global Education senior project. Amy has also served as Pom Pon Coach, Girls Varsity Basketball Coach and Boys Freshman Basketball Coach; and

Whereas, Amy also gives her time to the after-school Fit Club for students, and has championed the Invisible Children organization effort at Stevenson, which has collected 18,000 books for children and schools in Uganda,

Now, therefore, be it resolved, That the trustees of the Livonia Board of Education do hereby commend and congratulate Amy Rozman for being named Livonia's Secondary Teacher of the Year for 2009-2010 and for all the hours of unswerving dedication and loyal service she has rendered to the Livonia Public Schools School District, her students, and the greater community.
