Started over 40 years ago by two dedicated PTA moms,
The Clothing Depot is a free clothing closet serving financially
challenged students of Livonia Public Schools and sponsored by the
Livonia PTSA Council.
Customers to The Depot receive gently used clothing
and shoes donated by members of the community. A monetary gift from
many of Livonia’s local PTA/PTSA units buys a new pair of athletic
shoes, new socks and new underwear for each student twice during the
school year.
The students and their families come and shop, assisted by the dedicated staff of volunteers. Along with students in financial need, victims of house fires are also welcome.
While The Depot has changed location several times
since its inception, it has settled in nicely to its current
location in the former Marshall Elementary School on Curtis, West of
Farmington Rd.
The Depot is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from
9am-12noon whenever Livonia Public Schools is in session. Shopping
at The Clothing Depot is by appointment only and the student must be
present. Gently used clothing of all sizes is accepted during these
hours, as well. Due to space constraints, household items are no
longer offered. If you can‘t make it for donation during these
hours, call The Depot for other arrangements.
Students are referred to the Clothing Depot by the school principal,
psychologist or ESAP specialist and parents or guardians can make
the appointment by calling
(734) 744-2525, ext. 25128.
